Avlu Bistro & Bar, Bodrum

Open year-round, Avlu Bistro & Bar is an intimate, little spot set on one of the narrow side streets in the center of Bodrum, and has quickly become a favorite hangout for locals. Warm and cozy in

the winter, and welcoming and breezy in the summer, the place is everything one could want from a little town’s preferred joint.

The menu at Avlu is comprised of light international dishes, prepared with precision and finesse. No surprises here, you have seen all of them before, but the execution doesn’t disappoint. Salad portions are large and varied, bruschettas and mixed plates and baskets of baked goodies are ideal for sharing, meat cuts are cooked perfectly to your taste, and the selection of pastas are reminiscent of comforting home cooking.

This familiar feeling spreads from the menu into the ambiance. There are two main dining areas at the restaurant: one for the cooler days with a fireplace in the background, and one for warm summer nights, with windows and roof opening to create a visual extension of the front yard. If you’re really lucky, you might get one of the cute little tables outside, by the entrance.

Wine lovers will be pleased to hear that a full bar and an excellent wine list are also available. If you haven’t yet had the chance to explore the Turkish varieties of whites and reds, Avlu’s selection might be a great starting point to do so.

Open daily noon to midnight. Atatürk Caddesi, Sanat Okulu Sokak No.14, Bodrum; T: 0538 670 36 87; www.avlubistro.com
